Professor Adeyemi Olukayode Binuyo

The Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, community has a new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration). Professor Adeyemi Olukayode Binuyo, a foundational scholar from the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Following the approval of the University’s Governing Council, Prof. Binuyo’s appointment was ratified during an emergency Council meeting held on Monday, 16th March 2026. The information was immediately conveyed in a memo released by the University Registrar, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun, which stated that Prof. Binuyo’s selection follows his election during a special meeting of the University Senate on Monday, 23rd February 2026.

Prof. Binuyo, widely recognised within the institution as a pioneer, holds the distinguished record of being the first Mathematics Lecturer at Ajayi Crowther University and is the most senior Professor who initiated and successfully established the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

His journey at ACU began in 2006 when he joined as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance. In 2008, he transitioned to the Faculty of Natural Sciences, where he has remained, shaping the minds of countless students. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) and an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, in 2014.

As an active researcher, Prof. Binuyo specialises in Mathematical Modelling, Computational Mathematics, and Numerical Simulation. His current work focuses on applying these fields to Biomathematics and addressing real-world societal challenges. A testament to his academic stature. He was the 27th Inaugural Lecturer of Ajayi Crowther University.

Beyond the classroom, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship, supervising over 60 undergraduate projects, 5 Master’s students, and 3 Ph.D. candidates. He has also served as an examiner for two doctoral theses.

Prof. Binuyo is a member of several professional bodies, including the African Society for Biomathematics, the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), and the Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS).

As the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Binuyo is expected to bring his extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership to bear on the administrative framework of the University.
