OSOOGUN PEOPLE WRITE LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY

The people of Osoogun in Araromi Local Council Development(LCDA), Ado Awaye, Oyo state have expressed gratitude to Ajayi Crowther University, oyo, for establishing a campus of the University in their land. Osoogun is the hometown of the famous evangelist, and first black bishop, Samuel Ajayi Crowther whom the University is named after.  In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor ,Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju, through Rt. Rev.  Kemi Oduntan, Bishop Of Ajayi Crowther Diocese , Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the descendants of Bishop Ajayi Crowther and the people of Osoogun, expressed joy that the presence of the institution would not only signify an honour to a prophet at his home town, but will also bring the long-desired development to the community. The letter was signed by Olosoogun of Osoogun, Chief Adebanjo Olalere Alabi 11,  Pastor E.O. Okanlawon, Very Reverend Dele Oladeji and Dr. Sola Ojenike, on behalf of the descendants of Bishop Ajayi Crowther and Osoogun people.

As a mark of its appreciation to the University, the community donated forty(40) hectres of land to the University, and prayed that God will provide the resources to enable the University develop the place. It will be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor had announced that a member of the Board of Trustees of the University, Chief Olabode Amoo ,who promised to donate 25 million naira to the University, and  had brought an initial  N10m ( ten million naira) with which work had commenced on the Osoogun campus. The campus would house the Centre for Anglican Communion Studies, a Mausoleum, Department of History and Archival Studies, a branch of  the Faculty Agriculture and Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies. The campus is the third to be opened under the watch of Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo F. Asaju as Vice-Chancellor.
