ORIENTATION FOR FRESH STUDENTS

Professor Ebenezer Olayinka declared the event open on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

Over 700 new students, out of the 794 admitted into the University at the time of this report, were in attendance at the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium for a two-day orientation programme organized by the Student Affairs Unit of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo. The new students, also known as freshers, gathered for the event on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 25th and 26th, 2022.

Professor Ebenezer Olayinka, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, declared the event open. He also addressed them as Chairman of the Students Disciplinary Committee of the University.  The Registrar, Dr. J.E.T. Babatola, who was in attendance, addressed the students and admonished them to be serious with their studies and be mindful of the University’s mantra of Raising Godly Intellectuals.

Heads of various units in the University, or their representatives, addressed the students on how to access services rendered by them. The Bursar, Mr. John Ayodele Olusanwo(FCA), was represented by his deputy, Mr. Rueben Ayanwale while the Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Fabunmi, was represented by Dr. Mrs. Olutoyin Oso. Professor Joel Ayodabo, Dean, Postgraduate School and Chairman of the University Security Committee, was available to reassure the students that the University was on top of the situation as far as security matters were concerned. He also gave them tips on personal security. The Director of the University Health Services, Dr. J.B. Aiyejumoh, was also on hand to address the students on healthy living and the necessity of having their health details at the Medical Centre.

The Dean of Students, Dr. Rowland Isibor, whose unit organized the programme, the sub-dean, Dr. Cornelius Ojo, Chaplain, Venerable Lekan Onanuga, Head of Examination Committee, Dr. Mrs. A.L. Aina, Acting Director of ICT, Dr. M.O. Oyediran, Chairman of Dress Code Committee, Dr. Mrs. Ekaete Umoh, Chief Coach, Mr. O.P.O. Omobhude were among those who addressed the students at the event.
